<image:caption>If you are a high school student in search of scholarship assistance, or a potential donor wanting to make a difference by helping local students achieve their educational dreams, you’ve come to the right place. We are the Aaron & Cliffie Mae Cotton Scholarship Foundation dedicated solely to raising and awarding funds for college scholarships. It is the desire of the foundation to award scholarships to deserving students attending four-year colleges and universities across the country. We are firm believers that education is the key to a brighter future for all of us. Our hope is that one day, with the community’s help, we will be able to achieve our mission - to encourage high school students with the academic qualifications and desire to attend college will be given that opportunity. We hope you will join us in making that mission a reality.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - The Cotton Family Story</image:title>
<image:caption>The story of the Cotton Family begins with the patriarch Aaron Cotton and the Matriarch Cliffie Mae Cotton joining in holy matrimony to create this wonderful family. Our patriarch displayed great courage and innovation when he, a black man, decided to start a taxi service in the segregated south from the ground up. That same taxi service became known as one of the best taxi companies in the Metro Birmingham area for almost 50 years. The matriarch put on full display her strength by raising seven children and taking in people for refuge. Though, neither had an opportunity to attend college themselves, but the time to educated themselves. They both possessed a fierce thirst for knowledge. They both emphasized to their children the importance of education and encouraged a love of reading.</image:caption>

<image:title>Scholarships - Scholarship</image:title>
<image:caption>The Aaron & Cliffie Mae Scholarship Foundation grants are open to high school seniors or descendants of the founding family planning to attend any accredited college or university on a full-time basis. * Recipients are selected on the basis of academic merit and financial need. Our objective is to identify and make a difference in the lives of the most hard-working and gifted students in our community who exhibit unmet financial need. Unlike many scholarship programs, our awards are renewable and are not restricted to paying for tuition and room and board expenses. Though most frequently used to meet those obligations, our scholarships allow the student the financial flexibility to use their scholarship funds where they’re needed most. This sometimes includes the incidental expenses associated with college life that are often under-funded, and which can sometimes pose an additional barrier to college attendance. Computers, school supplies, travel and personal expenses can all be met through a Scholarship Foundation grant. Or goal is to award an average of 2 new and 2 renewal scholarships a year, averaging $2000 per award. Scholarship expenditures are based upon endowment investment results and our annual fundraising campaign. The number of awards and award amounts can fluctuate year-to-year.</image:caption>
